Over My Head

~Summary
It all started with a pick up line, a night of unforgettable memories, and a love that would last longer than the lives it overtook.
She had said yes that night, for what reason? She doesn't know. But when you're not looking for love it seems to appear in the weirdest places and he was certainly a wierd one but that's why she loved him. She loved everything about him.
She was broken, looking for a lift. He was the one who had no idea, but he smiled like there was no tomorrow. When she had said yes she didn't know what would come of this, and she certainty didn't expect for him to be her forever and neither did he.
But like with every story, there's always happily ever after and to be continued…
Except with this, it's just the end.

~Her
Her old soul had wafted in this world for years; she was way more intelligent than she let on, wise beyond her years. Secretly artist, very elusive and closed, protective and hidden beyond walls more eluding than the berlin wall and the Great Wall of China combined. Her heart was held by no one but her, even broken as it was she stood tall and was always the one every one leaned on. Music was her life, she loved to sing and dance. She hated herself; she was never enough for her or anyone else. She let herself believe that she would never amount to anything, she was ugly and lonely. But the truth was that she had more talent than anyone, and if she set her mind out she could complete anything. She could rule the world if she dreamed. The only people in her life who mattered were her family, her one best friend and him. The one thing she didn't know was that she was beautiful; truly beautiful, kind and spirited. With her long blonde hair and piercing green eyes, she was a model to some, an idol to others, but to him… she was everything he ever wanted.

~Him
He was a silly heart, you could hear his laugh a mile away, and being so tall you could see him too. His smile was almost as warm as his hugs, his eyes were a never ending sphere of chocolate that seemed to sparkle and smile at the same time. And when he was sad, those eyes well they just broke your heart. He loved his family more than anything, a large family at that; he'd adopt any animal into his home, even a squirrel once. He knew how to make the rain clouds go away and make every day into a sunny day. He could be slow at times but he made it up in heart. He would take her by the hand and lead her into the rain and they would dance, just as the lightning stroke and the thunder rocked the earth beneath them he would whisper "I'm going to tell my whole world who I love" she'd raise her eyebrows and he'd come close to her lips almost touching them and say "I love you" ever so softly that only she could hear him, and he would kiss her, and that simple kiss would leave the jitters in the heart, it had felt like she got shocked by lightning.

~What Happened
When this all started they had no idea as to the ending, she wanted to love, and she did. And he wanted to live in the moment and he did.
Being so young, neither of them really felt like they had fallen in love, but they knew that something special was going on. Just by the way they looked at each other, he moved she moved… they were like magnets, attracted to each other in such a passionate powerful way that neither of them could control. They had met in a class the shared mutually, a class she happened to hate until she saw him; immediately he was drawn to her, like a moth to a flame. They began to talk; in the class only, and slowly onto the computer where they had learned every bit about each other and they had begun to fall in love. It never became official that they loved each other fully; just one night, they held each other in their arms, she had confessed that being broken before had left her slowly dying, and he confessing that he couldn't trust anymore… they had fallen asleep with the words "I love…" on their tongues. Even though they both had said they loved each other many times, it had never been truer than that night. And those reasons they confessed eventually led them to their eminent and prominent end.  
The relationship didn't last very long, 5 months, but that's a light year in high school standards, this was over the summer as well. They lived in different towns, neither of them being able to drive had them relaying on their parents. She was in so much stress that summer, a lot of things had gone wrong and all the worse he had begun to act strange. She slowly broke down, believing that he was cheating or going to dumb her; which is what had happened with her ex-boyfriend. She asked him one day, if he was going to dumb her, he felt betrayed, broken hearted and denied, denied, denied. He couldn't even believe that she had asked him if he cheated, he couldn't even talk, and that's when it went all downhill, she had called him that night "How could you do this to me, like he(her ex-boyfriend) had done?" she screamed through the phone, he simply said "I don't know what to do now, I don't want to break up with you" she was breathless "do you love me anymore?" she whispered "I don't know" was all he replied "Then were over" she cried. But that was not nearly the end that was only about 3 months in. She knew there was going to be more trouble. After that night, he had his mom drive him to her house the next day, and he held her in his arms and kissed her forehead "I'm so sorry" there was a tear in his eye "I never want to lose you" he said and she held him tight " I can't afford to lose you" she said, the hole in her heart began to fill up. They got back together that day and they lasted for two more months. During these months her best friend went through some things with her boyfriend, she had convinced her that he hadn't been treating her right. Which wasn't true at all, sure he wasn't all over her in school, which was good, and sure he couldn't baby her, but that was good too, she needed to strengthen herself. Maybe he wasn't the most serious boyfriend in the entire world but she could never deny that he didn't love her. They broke up, and it was all her fault. She wore quilt every day, she saw him every day, they promised to be friends and it was different every day with him. His eyes still twinkles as they did when the cuddled under the stars, when he looked at her. On the good days, when he would hug her, she'd stay high, just off his smell, for days.  He wanted to kill anyone who touched her, he still loved her and she still loved him and it was only after forever that she realized that she had messed up bad. Her life was disappearing and she'd lost the one good thing about her.
They hadn't even lasted a year, their one year anniversary was two months way and she remembered, of course she did. It was just before, she was feeling sick and went to her favorite teacher's class room, and instead of her she found him sitting in the teachers chair, so she sat on the flour and laid against him. he looked down into her eyes, they had a secret conversation "I love you" his eyes said "I'm so sorry" she mouthed "it's not all your fault" he blinked and suddenly he was too close to her face, he kissed her forehead. Her eyes began to twinkle and they said "I love you too" he bent down again, sliding to the floor to lie next to her. He tapped his lips, motioning for her to kiss him. "I can't kiss you" she said, so he kissed her, and the feelings came back; she was shocked with lightning, put over a fire, and thrown in the arctic ocean, all those feelings at once a, fantastic parade of fireworks. But this does not mean happily ever after… does it ever?  

~If She Leaves
For 2 weeks, she was sick. Her stomach aches and she couldn't move. A month before their anniversary; they hadn't gotten back together, but she still referred it as that, she went to the doctors. She was put through machine after machine and all the while she was thinking of him. When the news came back it wasn't good, in fact it was dire.  Her family knew first, they cried for days, she visited her best friend and the tear stained face gave her away. The best friend sat quietly and listened. She couldn't even comprehend what she had said, she cried for days, her favorite teacher actually tears up, no she cried. Her blonde bob bounced has she threw her arms over her and told her that she would never be forgotten. When she told her other friends, she worried, they would cry… but would they miss her? Of course they would… would they remember her? There was no way of telling. Finally she went to him. He hadn't heard, he looked into her eyes and immediately knew something bad was going on. They sat; in the same place they had said "I love you" for the first time, where they laid watching the stars, they danced in the rain, laughed, cried, screamed, lived; and she told him that she would die before the end of the month.  She cried, she told him how long she loved him and that she wanted to make everything right with them. She wanted so much, the only thing she wanted more than anything was to live. He didn't cry… the only thing he said was "You will live, you'll live right here" he tapped his chest "right here, where you belonged all along" and they lay in each other's arms. They never made it official, but he never left her side. They loved again but they would lose. The entire month passed and on their one year anniversary they laid together, "it's the end of the month" she said, the tears welling. She felt herself lifting away, she hadn't taken anything to fight the cancer, it had progressed to much. "No worries, you're not going anywhere" and he tapped is chest again. The pain in her stomach eased away, and she began to fall asleep "I think it's time she whispered" he leaned over and kissed her, her eyes were closed but she could see the light ahead of her, and she followed her soul into the never ending brightness "I love you" were her last words and she left with the kiss on her lips and the never ending love in her voice. As he sat there and marveled over her peacefulness he scooted next to her and whispered "without me" and he closed his eyes. His heart was stopping, only his family knew but he had a hole in his heart, and he had stopped taking his medicine for the past month. The thumping on his chest slowly causes his heart to stop, which was why he had done it all month. When his heart beat finally stops he smiled one last time he met her in limbo and they followed each other into the brightness, to be together forever.
